    • About Kenya

Nestled near the majestic Mt. Kenya National Park in Nyeri County, the Kiamabara washing station stands as a testament to Kenya's rich coffee heritage. Established in 1995, it is one of two active washing stations owned by the Mugaga Coffee Farmers' Cooperative Society (FCS), alongside its sister factory, Gatina.

Nyeri County, part of Kenya's former Central Province, is steeped in agricultural history. The region's volcanic soil, high elevations, and cool climate create the perfect trifecta for outstanding coffee production. Most farmers here are smallholders, continuing a tradition that began in the 1950s when agricultural reforms allowed Kenyans to grow cash crops on family farms.

    • About Ethiopia

Ethiopia is considered the birthplace of coffee, and Yirgacheffe has cemented its name on the global coffee stage as the country’s golden goose. The Yirgacheffe Koke is produced by the Konga Cooperative, a subset of the Yirgacheffe Coffee Farmer’s Cooperative Union (YCFCU).

Besides advocating for its farmers, YCFCU serves the community by leading social projects to better the living environments of contributing farming families. Through its initiatives, it has created greater accessibility to education, clean water, and upgraded infrastructure.
